The story told within the game itself is something we rarely get anymore. You play as part of the Empire and learn about internal Imperial conflicts as multiple admirals become convinced they could run things better.
I enjoyed all of the Star Wars films, but I honestly think the movies would have benefited from treating TIE Fighter as canon and exploring many of the ideas presented here.
The TIE Advanced, TIE Interceptor, Missile Boat, and other additions create one of the most compelling space combat experiences ever made.
A space combat simulator from Totally Games and LucasArts, part of the Star Wars: X-Wing series, notable for putting the player on the Imperial side of the conflict. This CD-ROM edition added voice acting and enhanced production values over the original 1994 release.
